Perinatal and Women's Health
The journey into motherhood can be an amazing yet daunting emotional roller coaster, all at once. Many women experience mild baby blues, some women experience severe postpartum depression and/or anxiety, and most women lie somewhere in between. I have often described my own experiences as 'postpartum something' and many of the women I meet can relate. Perinatal mood and anxiety challenges often present as irritability, overwhelm, sadness, rage, and almost always, 'mom guilt'. As women, we often feel like no matter what we are doing, we 'should' be doing more; no matter how hard we try, we can't seem to meet the sky-high expectations of others and of ourselves. Yet, when we take a step back and reflect on the world around us, I often encourage mothers to wonder "how could women not feel this way?". Mothers today are often over-worked and undervalued by society. We are flooded by false images of perfection, we are often isolated from a village of support, and we feel surrounded by judgement.
As a Perinatal Therapist, I view my role as supporting women to recognize the impacts of these societal pressures on their wellbeing and to journey forward with a clearer recognition of their inner strengths. It is from this perspective that I support women during Preconception, Pregnancy, Postpartum and Motherhood for issues including:
- Perinatal Anxiety and/or Depression
- Fears surrounding childbirth
- Relationship adjustment into parenthood
- Coping with breastfeeding challenges
- Perinatal Grief & Loss
- Birth trauma

Hi! I'm Holly, a Therapist specializing in the area of Perinatal and Women's Health. As a mama of young kids myself, I have experienced and continue to experience the natural waves of emotion that we inevitably face on the journey through motherhood. I love being a mom and I find joys in special moments with my family...but I also get overwhelmed, I sometimes slip into the trap of making comparisons with other moms, and I often feel like I'm playing hide and seek with mom guilt!
I intentionally bring this honesty and transparency into my work as a Therapist and I find that the women I support appreciate it. My favourite moments in therapy are when clients sigh and share sentiments like "I feel like you get me" or "I'm so glad I'm not the only one". My Therapy practice is called Labour of Love - and it truly is just that! I genuinely love working together with women to dispel the myths of motherhood and I feel honoured to support women through the tougher seasons they come across on this journey.

Therapy sessions are offered Online for a fee of $175
A receipt will be provided for tax and health benefit purposes.
